Getting married in Thailand
What you need to bring:
The journey
- Go to Bukit Kayu Hitam, to arrive there around 8:00 am - 9:00 am if possible. Or take a flight to Hat Yai from Kuala Lumpur to arrive there at 12:15 noon Thailand time. If you choose to travel by train, stop at Padang Besar.
- We will take from Bukit Kayu Hitam or Padang Besar or Hat Yai airport to either the Songkhla Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) or the Phatthalung Islamic Religious Council (MAIP) for the marriage akad.
- After marriage, MAIS/MAIP will issue a marriage certificate and a marriage confirmation letter.
- After that, we will bring you to the Malaysian Consulate in Songkhla. Submit the marriage confirmation letter to the Malaysian Consulate, but keep the marriage certificate
- Following that, we will take you to a Muslim restaurant in Songkhla for lunch
- After lunch, we can take you for a drive around Songkhla or, if you prefer, we can send you immediately to your hotel in Hat Yai or Danok.
- The next day, we will pick you up from the hotel and take you the Malaysian Consulate to collect a confirmation letter from the consulate, addressed to the Jabatan Agama Islam in Malaysia. This letter will be required for registration of marriage in Malaysia.
Note: The Consulate is only open on Monday - Friday. Consider this fact in planning your trip to Thailand
We will then send you back to Bukit Kayu Hitam or any destination in Songkhla.
Payment for the above package is RM1, 700 including a hotel room for one night. If you wish to select your own hotel room, then pay us RM1,600 and pay for your hotel room separately.
Clothing should be appropriate for the solemnization of marriage in a mosque, because the MAIS office is located inside a mosque.
